Mackenzie's African Adventure Continues!...

An intimate moment (Yeck!)

C.A.R.E. was established by Rita Miljo in 1989 as a rehabilitation centre for injured indigenous wildlife. The Centre is situated on the banks of the Olifants River near to Phalaborwa in the Northern Province of South Africa, bordering the greater Kruger Park area.
These baby baboons think Mackenzie's their mom!
C.A.R.E. successfully petitioned the local courts to gain custody of 14 baboons held in appalling conditions in an experimentation facility - Centre Africain Primatologie Experimentale (C.A.P.E.) - and removed them to C.A.R.E.'s premises in October 2000.
Another intimate moment (Yeck again!)
Pioneering many firsts in primate care, C.A.R.E. has found ways to re-introduce the orphans back to their natural habitat - a feat never before achieved with hand reared baboons.
Thus ends this African adventure as Mack flies home (yeah, I reversed the picture). Thanks for joining us!
