Meet Our Certified Veterinary Technicians...

 Jan Newman CVT,

& Harmony Stapley CVT

make up our technical staff

Did you know there are 516 veterinary facilities in all the state of Arizona? And did you also know that there are only 508 Certified Veterinary Technicians in the state? That's less than one CVT per facility! The CVT is the highest paraprofessional level that can be achieved in veterinary medicine; to go higher than this you would need to have an actual veterinary degree. At Sun Lakes Animal Clinic we're fortunate to have not one but two CVT's under one roof! Its my great privilege to introduce them...

Jan Newman CVT is our most experienced Certified Veterinary Technician, having joined our staff during the spring of 1990 and earning her CVT degree in 1994. Jan has been active in the veterinary paraprofessional field for over 24 years. Jan is an active member of the Veterinary Technician Association of Arizona and the American Animal Hospital Association. Jan is currently 'owned' by a Lhasa Apso cross named Matt, a Labrador retriever cross named Liza and two desert tortoises named Lucky and Sonora. Let me tell you more about Jan Newman...

Harmony Stapley CVT is our all-around go-to-gal both in the treatment area and surgery and at the reception desk. Harmony is an active member of the Veterinary Technician Association of Arizona and the American Animal Hospital Association. Harmony is currently 'owned' by a Labrador retriever cross named Sacoza, a dachsund cross named Joffe, and a Welsh Corgi named Crichton who has her wrapped around his little paw. Let me tell you more about Harmony Stapley...

To gain the official CVT certification from the state of Arizona both of these intrepid staff members had to complete over two years of in-depth, on-the-job training and experience and complete an extremely large volume of intensive study into all aspects of veterinary technology from laboratory work to surgical assistance to veterinary medical record keeping to animal behavior to pharmaceutical knowledge to, well, just about everything! Then they had to pass the extremely grueling all-day state and national CVT board examination to emerge victorious as a Certified Veterinary Technician! We're very proud of both of them.
